We’ve been coming to Buffet Royale Carvery West for years and recently returned for a celebration. One of the biggest strengths of this restaurant is the sheer breadth of selection — from carved meats and comfort classics to Asian-inspired dishes, salads, and desserts, there truly is something for every palate. What consistently stands out is how attentive the staff are to the buffet line. Trays are monitored closely and replaced promptly — I’ve rarely seen a dish sitting empty, even during busy service. The carving station is reliably staffed, and portions are generous unless you request otherwise. Table maintenance is equally efficient; empty plates are cleared quickly, and drink refills are handled without long waits. For a large-format buffet, that level of attentiveness makes a noticeable difference. As with most buffets, quality can vary slightly from dish to dish. Some items are genuinely enjoyable, while others feel more standard. On this visit, a few fried items — such as the onion rings — lacked the crispness you’d expect and tasted as though they had been sitting a bit too long in the warmer. That’s somewhat inherent to buffet-style service, where holding time can affect texture, but it’s still noticeable. The highlight, though, is the chocolate fountain. It’s a nostalgic touch that never loses its charm, especially paired with their fresh fruit selection for dipping. For celebrations or gatherings where variety and volume matter, this remains a dependable option.
Large selection with a solid variety of options, some dishes were enjoyable, while others were less impressive. In particular, the sushi selection didn’t taste very good, and the wasabi lacked the usual sharpness you’d expect from a standard sushi restaurant. On the positive side, the ribs were well-prepared and flavorful, and the ice cream station was a nice touch that added to the overall experience. The restaurant was also quiet during a Tuesday evening visit, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. However, overall value for dinner felt a bit underwhelming. It may be more reasonable for a lunch or brunch visit rather than dinner pricing. The ambience also felt somewhat plain, and details like plastic cups for dine-in service detracted from the experience. I also expected a more polished setting based on the website, but the in-person atmosphere felt a bit dull. It’s not a bad buffet by any means, there is good variety and a few standout items, but compared to other buffets in the city, it didn’t quite meet expectations. I would rate it 4/5 mainly for variety and selection, with some reservations about quality and overall dining experience.
The place was clean with cozy lighting and we came at a peaceful time with few people. The service was also friendly. I like the selection provided and overall the food was good. (Other than some of the chow mein noodles being hard) I especially liked the bbq pork and the choco fondue is a classic. Also the ice cream section with the different toppings!
We had dinner here with family and friends celebrating birthdays twice. I like that they have variety of food options, however I wish their closing time would be extended by at least an hour especially on weekends.
Underrated AYCE spot on the west end, especially since buffet options are limited around there. The food quality isn’t amazing, but for the price and selection amount it’s solid value. honestly it’s better to pay a little more to go here for unlimited food vs spending $15–$20 at WEM’s food court on subway or chic fil a. Plus, it’s only a 2 minute drive from wem.
