I got takeout from Feng Donburi and was very impressed with the quality of the fish! They had a few unique sashimi offerings (tuna belly, red tuna) and they cut them in THICK slices here, which I appreciate. If anyone from Feng Donburi is reading this, can yall bring in butterfish next? lol I also tried one of their specialties called the Haru roll where they replace the rice and seaweed of a typical sushi roll with rice paper and I definitely would return to order 3 of these just for myself. If you’re an imitation crab fan like I am (I can eat buckets of “crab” salad), you MUST order this! It’s such a comfort food for me. Service was good and fast. They packed everything neatly and I didn’t have a problem.
The food was awesome, the place felt very clean and organized, definitely a neighborhood favourite from what I can tell. My server was alright, missed the two bite checkback and wasn’t checking in as much but was still polite and friendly. Bathrooms were clean! And again, the food was really good I got the Gyudon Bowl and definitely recommend it.
Thought to try this on our way out of town. It was a pleasant surprise. The pork + Kimchi donburi was amazing! We would come back for the Donburi! The sushi was good, but YEG has better sushi spots!
Wonderful restaurant! The food is exceptional and has a dish for all. Myself and my family have been going for over a year and have had nothing less than an excellent experience. The staff is welcoming and never forgot to say hello when they recognize us. They always make us feel special and always remember the little details. If you are looking for good sushi and a cozy place with excellent staff this is the place.
I had the bento at Feng Donburi in Edmonton a little while ago. Everything was nicely presented, and the food tasted pretty good (fairly fresh sashimi, decently cooked chicken). However, it felt like it lacked a bit of personality or a clear style that would make it stand out. It’s good food, but not delicate or refined enough to go into that direction; the fish was decently fresh but not as fresh as some competitors; and while pricing is reasonable, it’s not great value either. Overall, it’s a decent meal, and I’d give it 7.3/10.
