Having only enjoyed Ethiopian cuisine one other time, this place was an absolute delight, and it far exceeded our expectations. This place put on an absolute exhibition with its main course (Chacha Tibs over a Veggie/Beyanyrtu Combo) and Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony to follow. The elaborate spread for our main course was delightful on all sensory levels: the fragrant spiced meats, a colourful display of vegetables, the soft, tactile, ASMR sensations of ripping the tissue-thin bread, gripping chunks of food and feeding each morsel into the mouth. Savouring every bite and the different flavour combinations each handful conjured up. We were blown away in the second course as the helpful staff demonstrated how to ‘activate’ our freshly brewed coffees. Each pour of the hot drink was fun, with fresh popcorn to enjoy on the side and smoky incense as we chatted the night away. Between the dining experience and an unexpected greeting by an entire table of strangers dining at another table, we felt warmth from both the food and the people at this fine establishment. If you are new to this style of eating, our suggestion is to wholeheartedly embrace it with an open mind. Unforgettable!
The food was honestly really good, and I enjoyed spending time there with my sister and friends. Unfortunately, the customer service completely ruined the experience. The waiter had a very bad attitude, and the owner was screaming at the server in front of customers, which was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. We also felt that we were treated differently from other customers. No matter who you are, every customer and every employee deserves to be treated with basic respect. Good food can bring people in, but respectful and professional service is what makes people want to come back.
Very disappointing experience. We brought outside drinks without knowing they weren’t allowed. As soon as the owner, Baby, told us, we apologized and said it wouldn’t happen again. Instead of simply explaining the rule, she became extremely rude, raised her voice, refused to serve us, and told us to get out. What made it worse was watching her yell at one of the waitresses in front of customers. The waitress looked scared and almost in tears. It was very uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness. We admitted our mistake and apologized, but no customer or employee deserves to be treated with that level of disrespect. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
At first, we were slightly hesitant about trying Ethiopian food. Our servers made it so easy to approach a novel cuisine and then truly delivered a fantastic experience both through the service we experienced and the food we tasted. We tried a couple of different things to share and were truly thoroughly impressed. I will be talking about and sharing Mesob Habesha much much more :)
I had a great experience thanks to Sowit. She is a very friendly and professional waitress who made sure everything was perfect during my visit. She was attentive, polite, and always had a positive attitude. Her service made my experience enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend her to others. Thank you, Sowit, for your excellent service
