We tried both the beef and lamb burgers. 🥩 The beef burger was a little greasy, but honestly, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in years. 🤩 Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I can’t recommend it enough! 🍔❤️ 🍟 The fries were also really good and paired perfectly with the burger. 🐑 I know the lamb burger is Sugarbowl's signature, but I’m very picky when it comes to the smell of lamb, so it wasn’t really for me. (If you’re not as sensitive to that, you’ll probably enjoy it.) ☺️ The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was packed, so it was completely understandable. Overall, we had a great experience. 😍 [But trust me… if you’re deciding between the two, go for the beef burger! 😄]
Every time we are in Edmonton we make sure to go to the Sugarbowl for breakfast/brunch. They have a fantastic menu and not a single item on it will disappoint. I highly recommend the chicken & waffles, it is prepared perfectly and the maple butter and watermelon salsa elevate it from a good dish to a great one. The huevos rancheros never disappoint. Great service and usually no more than a few minutes wait to get a seat but it can be quite busy at peak times.
Sugar Bowl is one of my favorite places to spend time near the University of Alberta. It’s located on a beautiful, scenic street lined with trees, which makes the atmosphere especially pleasant. The food is consistently excellent. Their appetizers are great, and the pulled pork sandwich is one of my personal favorites. Portion sizes are generous, prices are reasonable, and the fries are outstanding. They even serve popcorn during happy hour, which is a fun and unique touch I haven’t seen elsewhere. The drink selection is equally impressive. They have an excellent variety of draft beers, and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to explaining different styles. The wine selection is also strong. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. Whether you’re meeting friends, having a casual lunch, grabbing drinks before or after class, or even meeting with a professor, Sugar Bowl is an ideal spot. A must-visit if you’re around the university. It’s been one of my go-to places for years and never disappoints.
We must have the cinnamon bun every time we visit because it's absolutely delicious. As much as I love a frosted cinnamon bun, I'd still choose the Sugarbowl one every time. The Mac&Cheese was decadent and hearty. I was full already 3/4 in but I forced myself to finish because it was THAT good. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast or brunch.
We went on Victoria Day for lunch and nothing in the menu expect breakfast was available. The food in the breakfast menu was not bad and the service was good. To add to our disappointment was the parking. It was hard to find parking. The few parking spaces managed by Diamond Parking charge $2.50 per hour plus a service charge of $1.55. I don’t understand why a service charge has to be imposed. That means patrons have to pay $4.05 for an one-hour lunch. That’s a bit too much.
