I took a school group here, 12 grade 10 girls for 2 hours. It was their first time ever rock climbing, which the instructors knew ahead of time. We did 2 hours of “just climbing”. I think I was asked three individual times about the invoice: when I arrived, after I had called the school office to confirm they had received the invoice, and a third time upon leaving. That. Was. Strange. On the bus ride back, the girls voiced that “the guy instructor was mean” and that he expressed no patience with them. Let me say it again, it was twelve grade 10 girls for 2 hours. Not exactly chaos. They were originally told they could go wherever they wanted in the facility, which quickly changed when an older lady arrived (let me explain we had these two hours pre-booked with the business for weeks ahead of time) and they were all of a sudden not allowed on the top levels. The male instructor kept leaving his assigned group, us, to help groups of two, who already had instructors with them. He snapped at the kids not to “climb their house” as some kind of debrief before we left, like they were morons or something. They listened on to his emotional outburst with smiles. I think the instructor was nervous, because he literally couldn’t annunciate his syllables, which made his instruction impossible to understand. I was originally sympathetic toward this, until he officially took it out on us, the ones paying. The ones that pre-booked. The ones that needed his help, as it was our first time. The girls were so well behaved that I had to apologize to my own class on the bus ride home. When I was a kid, other kids often went to places like this, but I never had the opportunity. It was my first time to vertically inclined as well. This was probably the most disappointing experience I have had on a field trip and I have been instructing for over 10 years. Extremely disappointed and I have no plans on returning. I originally was hoping this would be a place I could bring my wife, but being that she is of a different ethnicity, I have genuine concern that she may face the same experience as my students, who are of a different cultural background. I have no more words for this. You can probably infer some of my other thoughts on this experience based on what I have already shared. I can’t stop thinking about it.
Great experience had a very fun time. Workers were amazing especially this one guy Josh. He’s the greatest and helping out people and teaching. Kept me safe and in a good mood. Would recommend to come back. Hopefully Josh is respected at this facility
Vertically Inclined Rock Gym recently donated to our Staff Appreciation event at my school. We are beyond thankful for that type of community support. It means a lot! Thankful for their team and the recognition they gave us. They equally deserve that same recognition.
Amy Avery and Owen were very helpful with the safety orientation. Very nice and funny. You guys hired great people
It was spring break recently and me, my cousin and sister in law brought my niece and nephews here, they are ages 8-13? I once went here when I was in high school myself back in 1999? Something like that. I have to say the place was in good condition. The staff were great and the kids had fun. We were there for only an hour or so, which is more than enough time for the kids to have some fun. We got the family pass or something, my sister in law paid, literally grabbed my debit card out of my hand so I couldn't pay... well played Pubiji. Its an interesting afternoon, there's easy walls all the way to some challenging ones. All the kids were able to find something they could reach the top on. Staff were really good, you could tell they enjoyed their jobs. Near the end of our visit a bunch of spring break camp kids came in and were going about, so it became busier. I will say even as an adult who wasn't climbing I enjoyed my time holding the rope for the kids, it keeps you engaged and its kind of fun for an hour.
