You know your favorite little coffee shop? The one where you are remembered and welcomed. The one that prides itself on its uniqueness and providing something a step above the rest. The one that doesn't just meet a need but satisfies something in your soul. That's the joy dancing at Elite can bring you. We initially sought out Elite Dance Studio as one of few studios that would teach ballroom dance to youth. Our family has since tried their youth recreational ballroom, youth competitive ballroom, as well as some of their adult classes. Elite Dance Studio quickly becomes a second home.
Had a great experience taking an intro hip hop class with Ryan. His classes were lighthearted, well-paced, and educational and his obvious passion and enthusiasm for dance made the classes very enjoyable. The location was a bit out of the way and it would have been nice to have a mirror for practice but these are very minor complaints that didn't detract from the overall experience. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get into and explore hip hop dancing.
I previously left a positive review earlier in my training; after completing over 2 years in the competitive ballroom dance program, my perspective has evolved after the full experience, and here are as follows below: I trained at Elite Dance Studio as an adult in the Pro-Am competitive ballroom dance program for approximately 2.5 years. During that time, I invested significant time and financial resources into private lessons, competitive practices, and competitions (local and out-of-province). I practiced consistently, reviewed videos, took detailed notes, and actively asked for feedback on progression. The instructors are technically skilled, and the studio emphasizes discipline and competitive standards. For adult competitive students, here are important considerations: • There was no written or objective progression framework outlining typical timelines between levels • Advancement criteria were not formally documented and relied on instructor assessment • Progress discussions were primarily verbal rather than structured in measurable benchmarks • Costs can escalate beyond private lessons (competitive practices, mock events, visiting coaches, Pro-Am competitions, etc.) • Dance competition expenses can range approximately $1,000–$3,500+ per event, excluding travel and accommodations This model may work well for students who are comfortable with open-ended timelines and long-term financial commitment. For adults seeking clearly defined benchmarks, written evaluation criteria, and predictable budgeting, I recommend clarifying expectations in detail before committing to an intensive competitive track. Ultimately, I chose to step away because the financial structure and progression model no longer aligned with my personal goals. This review is shared to provide transparency for future competitive students so they can make informed decisions.
My husband and I took dance lessons at Elite in preparation for our wedding! We chose our song and worked with our instructor, Jim, to plan a beautiful and simple choreography. He was very flexible and communicative from first lesson to final preparation! As this was our first experience with dance lessons together, Jim offered his expertise and was patient with our awkwardness while listening to our needs and wants. Within 5 lessons we were feeling confident for the big day and had little to no need for extra practise - even with spins and a lift! We are looking forward to returning to Elite for future date nights and highly recommend them for couple’s choreography.
We used Elite Dance to help us with our first dance in preparation for our wedding. Jim went above and beyond for every part of our dance lessons. We selected the silver package (I believe it was called that). We don't have any dance ability lol so choosing this package helped us to get 8 practice sessions in. Jim was able to get us in shape for our first dance. The facility is nice but can get hot in the warm summer days. Thank you Jim!
Keep exploring
