Great tasting burger and appies! The fried chicken Anna jalapeño poppers were delicious and half price during happy hour! We chose to dine in the boiler room which was a neat experience and fun for our date night. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a great burger. Our server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions to make our meal even better which we appreciated. Will be back!
There is a quiet confidence in a kitchen that understands its identity and executes it with consistency. This visit delivered exactly that—bold, well-structured flavors presented without excess, allowing each component to speak clearly. The meal opened—unconventionally—with the dessert special: cinnamon dulce de leche bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, secured as the final portion available. The recommendation was delivered with enthusiasm and confidence, and it paid off. The flavors were warm and inviting, with the dulce de leche adding a rounded sweetness that complemented the spice of the pudding. While the dish leaned slightly on the dry side, it remained enjoyable and set an unexpectedly strong tone to begin the meal. The Brussels sprouts followed, offering a well-executed balance of caramelization and depth. They avoided bitterness while delivering a satisfying richness and a heat, reinforcing the kitchen’s control over flavor and texture. The centerpiece offerings leaned into the craft of the smash burger. The double Inferno smash burger with animal fries showcased a thoughtful layering of bold flavors without tipping into heaviness. Notably, the execution avoided the common pitfall of excess grease, allowing the seasoning and structure of the burger to stand out cleanly. The double Highlands greens burger, substituted with a veggie patty and paired with a green salad, demonstrated that the menu’s integrity extends beyond its meat offerings. The flavors were cohesive, and the combinations felt intentional rather than assembled. Portion sizes across the table were well judged—generous enough to satisfy without feeling excessive. That said, there is a small but meaningful opportunity for refinement in the smash burger itself. A slightly more robust patty or adjusted technique could allow for more pronounced edge crisping while preserving a juicy center—elevating texture and contrast without altering the core profile. As it stands, it is already good; with that adjustment, it could become exceptional. The space itself reflects a modern, trendy sensibility while remaining clean and approachable. Service was a standout: friendly, upbeat, and genuinely welcoming throughout. The staff’s ability to engage—particularly in highlighting the final dessert portion—added a layer of personality to the experience. Water was consistently topped up without prompting, a small detail that reinforces attentiveness and care. Value aligns well with the quality delivered. This is a kitchen that understands its lane and executes with precision, offering a dining experience that is both satisfying and thoughtfully composed.
We ate there and were really impressed. I had a double bacon burger with garlic fries, and my wife had poutine with a veggie burger. The fries were the best we’ve ever had, so crispy and the burger was also really delicious. The ambiance is cozy but nothing special; the tables are very close together, which we didn’t really like. Overall, we had a great meal and a good time. We paid $53 for 2 burgers, a garlic fries, a poutine side, and free water.
I had lunch there today. Got the garlic fries made into poutine. I am still thinking of those fries now. The Smash Royale was messy to eat but tasted delicious! Kudos to the chef.
A bit on the pricier side but the portion size is very healthy and tasty. After finishing almost all of my plate save for a few garlic fries, I'm so full that I felt sleepy. Lol. Good job on keeping to the vintage look of the building. The skull painting in the men's restroom down the winding stairs into the low ceiling basement was my aha moment. I was thinking to myself "this is a dungeony place for a washroom" then boom, the glamorous skull face smiling at me. Very fitting and actually nice.
