Food was amazing! Up to par with DTF. The xlbs were juicy and soft. You can see Mr. Bun make xlbs fresh infront of the tables! We recommend the pork xlbs and the red oil wontons. Packed with umami flavor! The service was okay though. We waited about 20 mins for 1 order of the chocolate xlbs. The server might have forgotten about it when he asked if it was brought to us yet. I wish there was more than 3 pcs as well! Overall really good and highly recommend! Would come back again :)
Mr. Bun is my go to spot in the city for soup dumplings! The XLB are always fresh, plump, and juicy. I find it comparable to Din Tai Fung and that’s saying a lot!! I also always order the dan dan noodles, which is another must try. The bowl is big enough to share. I also like trying at least one new dish every time I visit, and so far, I’ve never had anything I didn’t enjoy. The food has been consistently good, and I hope this place stays in the city for a long time. I would say the service can be a bit hit or miss. We usually go for lunch, but the last time we went for dinner, we waited exceptionally long for someone to take our order, bring us water, and check in on us. I’m guessing it may have been a staffing issue that evening.
Soup dumplings - chicken truffle: Amazing flavor! The red chili oil Wonton dish was so hot but so delicious. They can do the sauce in the side so do that if you can't handle the heat. The service was delightful, very attentive staff. Definitely going back soon!
All of the food selection was exceptional. More than half my party thought these were the best dumplings they have had and the other half thought they were the second best - but all you need to know is the food was great. I personally thought the “spicy” food was not very spicy despite the waitress concern for the spice heat. You will not regret enjoying a meal here. Good for large groups or just you and a friend.
Everything was delicious! As others have said their spice levels were on point as nothing was too spicy. Suggest truffle chicken bao, chocolate bao, sesame balls for dessert. Will definitely go back to try the other items.
