Entirely mediocre and overrated for their pricing. I understand it’s downtown St Albert but it’s nearly disrespectful. Ordered several items as a group, but I will only speak on the gnocchi as that was my order. First off, they seem obsessed with arugula. They put it on everything. Lots of it. Then, they plated my very saucy dish in a deeper set plate/bowl with a fork and knife as utensils, so I had no hope of actually consuming the sauce that did not adhere to the gnocchi at all. To boot, the sauce was very mild and lacked flavour, all while it was riddled with peas. Of all vegetables - peas? An interesting choice. The chicken was an additional $8 and I will admit, the chicken was done well, juicy and the skin crisp. The only saving grace to this place was their French toast, which I was then told that was much smaller than a previous visit and quickly finding out the syrup only soaked into my corner of the bread (thus why I was so pleased with it) and the other half of the loaf was dry, to the chagrin of my table mates. The teenagers working the place seemed aloof, as they needed reminding that we did not want the glasses refilled with ice cubes. Forgetting an item from the order and returning to the table to confirm would be less upsetting if you were to forget how much they are charging for this experience. The open kitchen is a cool concept.

Went for brunch after going to the farmers market. Everything was delicious! The special that day was a pork stew with biscuit on top and the flavours were a perfect combination. The eggs benny was highly recommended by the others in our group too. Would definitely go again!

Yesterday me and my wife came in for the first time for brunch. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. I got the smoked salmon Benny and my wife got their brisket mac and cheese. Didn't wait more than 20 min for our food while in the meantime enjoyed the atmosphere and watched the cooks in the back pump out order after order with awesome accuracy and team cohesiveness. The staff came by often asking how the food was and water top ups. I also got their limited time dini donut French toast. To say the least it was devine. While waiting for our food we also witness excellent customer service to a family with kids. Making a custom seating arrangement for their youngest and the entire group. 10/10 would recommend and trust me they go show their appreciation

We recently visited Wildroots and had such a wonderful experience that it easily earned a 5-star rating from us. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm and friendly attitude. They consistently checked on us throughout our meal, which made the service feel attentive without being overwhelming. We ordered the French toast, porchetta, and mushroom focaccia, and every dish was beautifully prepared. The French toast was absolutely delicious — perfectly sweet, soft in the center, and wonderfully crunchy on the edges. The porchetta was flavorful and cooked just right, with a great balance of seasoning. My personal favorite was the mushroom focaccia; it was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. You can really tell that care goes into both the ingredients and presentation. The coffee was just okay for me, as I found it a little too sweet for my taste, but that’s purely a personal preference. Despite the restaurant being very busy when we visited, we understood the 30+ minute wait. It was a bustling morning, and the lively atmosphere actually added to the charm of the place. Overall, Wild Roots feels like a hidden gem in St. Albert. The quality of food, the friendly service, and the cozy ambiance make it a spot worth coming back to. We’re already looking forward to returning to try more items from their menu. Highly recommended!
