The front desk staff are very helpful and courteous. Always smiling and especially Pearl and she knows my name. And greet me when she sees me. Spencer is very good at explaining the DPUR games and he does a great job! 👏 They all work really hard. Thank you all!
This facility is great! The front staff are always friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Justin and Ember who are amazing. I appreciate that the club is open to feedback and adding to schedules as requested/required to meet club members needs. I have found the people playing here to be friendly and welcoming. It would be nice to see more rating sessions available so that those ready to move up are not waiting 2 months to get rated.
I took the intro to pickleball clinic with Kim at the west location. The clinic was well organized and included the basic skills needed to enjoy the sport. Kim was an amazing instructor. She was clear in explaining everything to us and have the patience as well. The class size was ideal. I recommended this clinic and Kim to my friends.
EPC on 170 st. is my favorite pickleball site in the Edmonton area. There are so many customer experience reasons to choose this place over others. -Broad choice of round robins and DUPR ladder play every week. There is always some kind of organized session available for any pickler who is progressing through their DUPR journey of amateur through near-pro. -Many clinics and coaching sessions are available here. EPC has a strong pool of pickleball coaches. I've not taken any coaching sessions myself, but my friends who have speak highly of the tutelage they received from the EPC coaches. -The online Courtreserve.com booking system works well, and makes court reserving and competition signup convenient. -There are 15 courts that use 'picklemaster' outdoor surface. This is my preference for player feel, bounce, and shoe-sound (I despise the squeak of wooden indoor gymnasium floors) -The picklemaster courts use permanent nets. Not a big deal for some players, but I prefer them over rolling temporary nets. -The site uses 4-foot high blackout fencing between courts. This opaque separation is invaluable for athlete experience as it removes the visual distraction of adjacent players. -*The courts are NOT crowded together*. There is ample spectating and walking room between the courts. This supports observing tournament games. -The multiple picnic tables are excellent for the user experience of sitting with your pickle friends between games. -There are free day lockers and change room facilities. There are also cubby hole spots beside each court for players to stow their gear. -There is a lounge area for eating your bagged lunch and sitting with your fellow picklers after a long session. -The staff are attentive, eager, and do an excellent job maintaining a clean site. I want to acknowledge the splendid customer service from Rayah, Tia, Ember, Eva, Hayden, Shay, and Maya. They are a joy to deal with, and they deliver excellent responsiveness whenever I need scheduling or court logistics help. -There are new court cameras (i.e. for resolving tournament disputes on in-bounds vs. out-of-bounds shots) -Ample free parking. -The boot change area is directly monitored by the staff ten feet away. This setup does not guarantee that your winter boots will not get stolen, but it definitely helps. -Well-stocked pro shop and a wide range of high-end loaner paddles. -The 'Practice Pass' membership is worth looking at. It is a monthly-prepaid subscription that reduces doubles court fee to $7.00 / hr. -Perhaps most of all: EPC west has a large and loyal gene pool of picklers, DUPR 2.0 to 4.x skill level, that keep the round robins and ladder sessions filled. ___ Areas to improve: -The rentable ball machine is end of life. It is getting random in its shot placement. -The main washroom could use an "occupied" visual indicator (i.e. just like an airplane washroom). Such an indicator would remove the awkwardness of jiggling door handles while you are busy doing your #2. -The site could use a loudspeaker to better signal the expiry of the round robin timer. A large timer clock display could easily be added by terrorizing an old tablet. -The site could use a microwave oven and stand. -Really: there are only minor nits to complain about. The 170 st. EPC site is terrific, and absolutely outshines all the competition in the Edmonton area.
had the most amazing pickleball intro with Karen at the west location and it was incredible!!! she was so knowledgeable, yet equally fun and encouraging! she had us laughing and enjoying our 2 hour session! can’t wait to be back and play some more.
