October in Edmonton goes fast. One weekend it's sunflowers, the next it's frost on the windshield. If you want a haunted house, a corn maze or a pumpkin patch this year, you need dates, not vibes. So here they are.
Every event below is a real 2026 event we checked on the organizer's own site or in 2026 news coverage. We kept this list family friendly: no bar nights, and nothing built around drinks. A few of the city's big haunts run licensed bars on site, so we left them off. Dates and prices can change, so check the official link before you drive out.

Corn maze Edmonton: Edmonton Corn Maze
The Edmonton Corn Maze is the big one, just west of the city near Spruce Grove (51529 Range Rd 262). This year's maze is a giant design for the Alberta Motor Association's 100th birthday. It opened late, on August 5, after a rainy start to summer.
When: Open until Sunday, October 25, 2026. Closed Mondays in the fall, except Thanksgiving Monday (10 AM to 6 PM).
Cost: Fall weekdays are $14 for adults and $12 for kids 4 to 11. Weekends and holidays are $16 and $14. Kids 3 and under are free. A season pass is $45.
Good to know: Pumpkins and sunflowers are on site through the fall, and leashed dogs are allowed. Hail thinned out parts of the field this year, but the maze is fully walkable. Buy tickets at edmontoncornmaze.ca/tickets.
Pumpkin patch and gentle haunts: Prairie Gardens
Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm in Bon Accord, about 25 km north of Edmonton, runs its Haunted Pumpkin Festival every weekend in October.
This is the one for little kids. The farm calls it playful rather than frightening. There's a Haunted Farm House (spooky, no gore), a Ghost Town, a haunted cemetery, hayrides, a train, a straw bale maze, farm animals, corn cannons and a pick your own pumpkin patch with a heated greenhouse.
Heads up: The big corn and sunflower mazes at Prairie Gardens are not running in fall 2026 because record rain wiped out the crop. If a corn maze is the whole point of your trip, go to the Edmonton Corn Maze instead.
When: Weekends in October, 10 AM to 6 PM. Online timed tickets save $8 each over walk in.
Haunted house Edmonton families can do together: The Haunted Hike
The Haunted Hike in Vegreville (5225 52 Ave, about an hour east of Edmonton) is an indoor haunted house with themed rooms and live actors.
What makes it work for families is the split schedule:
- Kids Hour, 3 to 5 PM: self guided, no actors, no jump scares. $14.99 plus GST.
- Scary Hour, 6 to 11 PM: the full haunt with actors, suggested for ages 13 and up. General admission runs $29.99 to $59.99 plus GST depending on the night, with speed passes available.
When: Fridays and Saturdays, October 2 to 31, 2026. Passes sell out on the last few weekends, so book early.
Haunted forest: Warwa Woods
Warwa Woods turns Camp Warwa near Darwell into a haunted forest walk for three nights only.
When: October 23 to 25, 2026, 7 to 10 PM.
Who it's for: Recommended for ages 12 and up. Expect fog, strobe lights, loud noises, fake blood and actors who get close.
Cost: $22 per person, $77 for a family of up to 4, or $175 for a group of up to 10. There's a campfire with snacks and warm drinks for after. Tickets are on the Warwa Woods registration page.
Halloween movies at the zoo: Horizon Drive In
Horizon Drive In is running a Halloween edition at the Edmonton Valley Zoo (13315 Buena Vista Rd NW), with three movies a night from October 29 to 31. Part of every ticket goes to the Valley Zoo Development Society.
- Thursday, Oct 29: Happy Halloween, Scooby Doo! (7 PM), The Addams Family (9:30 PM), Halloween 1978 (11:45 PM)
- Friday, Oct 30: The Nightmare Before Christmas (7 PM), Beetlejuice (9:30 PM), Final Destination (11:45 PM)
- Saturday, Oct 31: Hocus Pocus (7 PM), Ghostbusters (9:30 PM), Scream (11:45 PM)
The 7 PM shows are the family picks. The late shows are real horror movies, so check ratings before you bring kids. Car tickets are $15 per person, $10 for kids 15 and under, and walk in seats are $10, all plus fees. Alcohol is not allowed on site. Bring an FM radio if your car stereo is iffy, or grab a seat in the front row area with a speaker.
Day trip: Kraay Family Farm
Kraay Family Farm near Lacombe has one of the best known corn mazes in Alberta. It's about 90 minutes south, so plan a full day.
When: Open Wednesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 9 PM, until Saturday, October 17, 2026. Saturdays need date specific tickets. It closes before Halloween, so go early in the month.
What about Boo at the Zoo?
The Edmonton Valley Zoo has run Boo at the Zoo on late October weekends in past years, with costume trick or treating around the zoo. We could not find confirmed 2026 dates yet, so check the City of Edmonton zoo page before you plan around it.

Halloween in Edmonton: quick tips
- Book online. Most of these events sell timed tickets, and walk up prices are higher or not offered at all.
- Dress for the cold. Late October nights in Edmonton often drop below zero. Warm boots beat a perfect costume.
- Check the scare level. Haunts with a kids hour or a no gore rule are the safe bet for younger children.
- Trick or treating is on Saturday this year. October 31, 2026 falls on a Saturday, so expect busy streets and plan any events for earlier in the day.
