Suya $15 Slow grilled beef seasoned with hot peanut spices served with tomatoes and onion. Asun $20 Hot spicy goat meat sauteed in chilli peppers, onions and Ola's Dining special seasoning. (8oz) Egusi Soup $18.98 + 5.50 A savory soup of melon seeds and vegetables with dry fish and dry red shrimp. Served Pounded Yam. - choice of protein (Ponmo 2pcs) - extra (Goat) $5.50 My wife wanted to try Nigerian food and she found Ola's Dining Nigerian Kitchen on Google. She was very excited about trying Egusi Soup. Our order came to $62.66 a bit too pricey, in my opinion. I drove 32 min from South edmonton to the north end to pick up the food. Upon receiving the food, I have to admit it was quite a disappointment, as the portions did not equate to the money spent. Taste We chose medium peper for the Asun, boy was that a big mistake. We are usually a family that loves spice, but this was ridiculous. The kids couldn't even try it. Even if you like spice, I would advise you to choose the mild if you actually want to be able to taste the meat. Lastly, it's not worth $20 dollars. You can go to the African market and get yourself a whole bag of goat meat and prepare it yourself (plenty of recipes on YouTube) The Suya was not bad, probably the only thing we got that we all liked. Again, it's not worth $15 it's more like 10$. Lastly, the main reason why we went there in the first place. The Egusi and pounded Yam. The Pounded wasn't easy to (swallow) and was a bit too chewy for our liking. My wife, my oldest daughter, my son, and myself did not really like it. The only person who liked it in the family was my youngest daughter, which was very shocking Will we order from here again? No. Respectfully, of course.
Adding a better photo to my review. I think I’ll eventually try everything on the menu! Second time here and very happy. I like the fuku and ponmo too. I was very excited to try Nigerian food and I spent some time watching videos of people eating Egusi Soup with Fufu, many trying it for the first time and really liking it. Ola’s Dining is in northeast Edmonton which is only 20 minutes from my home in Fort Saskatchewan. I ordered the Fish Pepper and Egusi Soups, the swallows I chose were Amala and Fufu. I was happily and kindly greeted at my vehicle and I couldn’t get home fast enough to try the food. I asked for a little bit of spice and got what I wanted. The food is very flavorful and delicious.
The food is absolutely delicious! I love the flavors and the quality of ingredients they used. Keep up the fantastic work! Definitely going to order again!
