Very Good Experience with Great Potential We recently visited Sushi Ai on a Saturday evening and had an overall four-star experience. 📍 Location & Parking The restaurant is conveniently located in North Calgary with easy parking, which made our visit simple and stress-free. 🤝 Service The service was friendly and welcoming. Our interaction was somewhat limited — possibly due to a language barrier — but the staff were kind and attentive. We also arrived close to closing time and were likely the last customers, and we were a bit surprised the restaurant wasn’t busier on a Saturday night. 🍣 Food Quality The sashimi was very good — fresh and enjoyable. The rolls were also good overall, though not outstanding. One small detail: one of the rolls was not cut evenly, so one piece was noticeably larger than the others. The hot tea was excellent, a very nice touch. The ramen was good and comforting, though not the strongest item on the menu. ⭐ Final Thoughts Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience, and we would certainly come back. With a few small refinements and continued attention to detail, this place has the potential to become a standout sushi spot in North Calgary. Word of encouragement: Thank you for your kindness and effort. Keep going — you’re on a good path, and we look forward to returning.
The food was pretty decent, service was reasonable and atmosphere and was fine. Summary of the food: -Miso soup was not too salty, and a nice light broth. It could use a bit more tofu but the green onions are bright-tasting and quite crunchy and fantastic. -Avocado & Unagi Roll was disappointing. The avocado and unagi were not a great pairing as they were both too umami together. There was also too much unagi sauce -Negitoro Roll was great! -Saba (Mackerel) Sushi was very flavourful and had a good fish:rice ratio. -Vancouver Roll is delightful. The mango was underripe and a bit crunchy but the textural contrast and astringent flavour goes well with the rest of the ingredients. -Edamame was given for free if you write a review. Thankfully there were no stipulations about how many stars the review needs to be! Some of them are overcooked and soft but some are nicely cooked. -Deluxe Sashimi were overall quite generously sized and tasty.
Very quiet and clean place to dine in. Waitress is so polite and friendly. Foods are delicious and ingredients are so fresh, especially you can taste ghe freshness of Sashimi. Value of every dish worth every penny you spent there. The location is convenient close home. Good place to take family and friends for gathering. Highly recommended.
The food was delicious and service was friendly. The sushi rolls had good flavour and the sashimi were thick cuts. We were, however, surprised that for 20$ they put a lot lettuce underneath the calamari to make it look like a full plate. Otherwise a very good sushi spot and would come back
Food is wonderful and serving is exceptional! We ordered 6pcs sashimi tuna and they gave us 7pcs.. yum yum! Thank you! Wonderful service, server is smiling and prompt in serving our ourders!🥰
