Last Friday I went there for some fresh cod to make fish and chips at home, and they promote FRESH seafood on the weekends. I got there, around noon, nothing was on display… I get it, it’s Friday and they are busy. But! When one of the butchers saw me looking around, he promptly asked what I was looking for. As previously mentioned I was looking for some fresh cod. He went out of his way to grab a case of fresh cod on ice, and wrap up a fillet up for me. Not only that. He grabbed a fresh cutting board and knife to cut it up and take out the pin bones for me. I mentioned that I’m an industry chef and I can do that at home. Long story long…. The cod was amazing, and the customer service was amazing. Was a very pleasant experience for such a simple purchase.
This was our first visit and I’ve been looking forward to trying the restaurant for some time. Our first impression was that we were spoiled for choice. We wandered from counter to counter noting the salad bar, pizza oven, butcher cookhouse, sandwich case and ice cream bar. I went with the combo of fried chicken, mac & cheese and onion rings. There was lots of chicken on the two pieces, the onion rings were crunchy and the mac & cheese tasted delicious even if a bit dry. I paid about $18 for my meal including a strawberry lemonade with actual fruit pieces. My companion’s sandwich was $9 and a good value. As I write this, I can’t stop thinking about the milkshakes & may have to get one to go! Overall this was a great lunch experience and we enjoyed the large seating area with a table next to the window.
Nicest grocery store/restaurant/bar I've ever been to anywhere in Canada while traveling extensively! Free icecream for the little ones, I think you can drink while you shop... I didn't ask and no one's stopped me yet, just return the glass to the counter.
Keep exploring

Edmonton's oldest continuously-operating bakery, since 1946. Cakes, buns, danishes, and old-school treats made the same way for three generations.
