We had a lovely lunch at Mercato in St Albert with my wife. I had the spicy calzone, which was hot, savoury and delicious. My wife ordered the panini, which was excellent too. The biscotti brownie was really excellent and a nice topper to our lunch, with our hot coffee and chai latte. Cute cafe, with friendly service and lots of choices. Lots of speciality goods in the store to peruse as well. The bakery has many delicious desserts (too many to make a decision).
Ordered a carrot cake for Easter. I was super excited bc it is a beautiful cake. The cake ended up being 75% icing/cream cheese filling. It was pretty tasty but definitely wouldn't order it again bc we love the cake part of the carrot cake. Would recommend for icing lovers!
I bought a butterscotch cheese cake today. Unfortunately, the crust was stale and not fresh as if it had been sitting on the shelf for a week. The cheese cake itself didn't have much flavor, overall I think it was very poor quality and very overpriced at $43.00. Mercato needs to improve their quality as customers expect better.
If you’re thinking of buying a cake from here, DON’T. A homemade or ANY grocery store cake would be higher quality and promising than what Mercato is making. The cake looks better than it tastes (it’s giving toddler learning how to write) 😂😂😂 buttercream is clearly grainy, unmixed and the chocolate cake is dense, dry and crumbly. Whoever baked this clearly stopped mixing halfway through, is most likely allergic to hazelnut/Nutella, and just hoped for the best… it tastes like butter, egg and sugar. Whoever’s in your kitchen clearly lied on their resume. Embarrassing.
Great atmosphere with quick and friendly service! The staff handles rush hours really well, and the space is kept very clean. There is plenty of seating available if you want to sit down and catch up on work, plus convenient parking right out front. Highly recommend stopping by for a solid cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat!
