Some of the best local finds happen by accident, and The Better Baker was exactly that for us. We stumbled across this bakery while looking for good sourdough and were so glad we did. We have now visited twice, and both experiences gave us plenty of reasons to come back. The bakery has a cozy, calm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone we interacted with, including the owner, was friendly and approachable. On our first visit, the owner took the time to chat with us, explain some of the products and share a little of the story behind the bakery. That personal interaction added a lot to the experience. There is a good selection of breads and pastries, along with a smaller, more focused selection of sandwiches. There is also seating available, so you can enjoy one of the pastries or order something more substantial and eat it there. On our first visit, we mainly picked up pastries and bread to take home. Their sourdough was particularly good and was actually what brought us back a second time. On our next visit, we came for breakfast and tried the smoked salmon bagel and the sourdough grilled cheese. Both were very enjoyable. We also liked seeing the individual cube-shaped croissants in the pastry display. The individual size makes them easy to try without committing to something large. The particular flavour available during our visit wasn't really for me personally, but that is very much a matter of taste. I would love to see them eventually offer a few different or rotating flavours, as well as perhaps a simpler plain version. One thing worth knowing if you are planning to come specifically for breakfast is that, at least during our visit, there were no coffee or drink options available. We ended up going to a nearby café to pick up coffee and then coming back to eat our sandwiches. It was certainly manageable, but having even a small selection of coffee or other beverages would make the sit-down experience much more complete. Overall, The Better Baker was a very pleasant discovery. The sourdough and sandwiches have been the highlights for us so far, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the personal service gives the bakery a genuine neighbourhood feel. We will happily return to try more of what they make.
I was ecstatic to try this bakery. Ordered breakfast for dine in. We had baker's breakfast and Ryan's (grilled cheese with smoked salmon). The server was friendly. I asked for a knife. My order was was a garlic sourdough toast with eggs and bacon on it. They didn't have a knife but was able to lend me a paring knife. Pro tip: if you are planning on dining in, it is important to know that they do not serve coffee or any drinks in the menu. They have a water dispenser which you can ask for a cup from the server. There is a Cafe upstairs where I bought my latte. Price was decent 👌 for the quality of the food. We bought a loaf of sourdough and 3 kinds of croissant to go. Expectation vs Reality Ordered for a passion fruit croissant. On their Instagram post you can see how filled their croissant is with its filling. I cut mine in the middle and you can barely see the filling. The filling was just on top of my croissant and was very tiny. So this was a disappointment for me. Sourdough loaf, chocolate croissant and coffee espresso croissant were great. I like the ambiance of the store. Would still recommend this store as long as you make a note of other stuff in this review.
First time here today, the quality and quantity of different types of baked goods is amazing. The sourdough is perfect, crisp, crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside and the flavour is exactly what I was looking for. The owner has incredible patisserie skills, and produces high quality top notch baked goods. The inside of the sourdough looks amazing!! The bagels here are only $2.50!! Such a good deal The interior is cozy as well 🍞 I will definitely be back to support such a strong and local business talent. Let's just say, he is the better baker Thanks !
Have you ever seen this big croissant in yeg? They’re best, nice flaky outside and amazing layers & soft inside. Great spot for viennoisserie. Worth every penny and do tru the banana split & Pain au chocolat!!
The Better Baker is my favorite bakeries for and every single time I order, they remind me why I keep coming back.Everything is always fresh, delicious, and made with so much care. You can truly taste the quality, and it's obvious they take a lot of pride in what they do. I haven't had a single thing I didn't love! What really sets them apart, though, is the people behind the business. They're such a kind, genuine family-owned bakery, and they always make you feel appreciated as a customer. Great customer service seems hard to find these days, but they absolutely nail it they went above and beyond today in was i dont think many businesses would have.It totally made my day!! It's no surprise they're so busy! Businesses like this deserve all the support they get. If you haven't tried The Better Baker yet, you're seriously missing out. I'll definitely be back again... and again! ❤️🥯🥐
