I’ve been training at Evolve Strength South Common for the past few weeks and have been impressed with the new facility. If you’re looking for a gym in South Edmonton that combines strength training, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, bodybuilding, and general fitness, this is one of the better options available. The equipment selection is excellent, with a wide variety of machines, free weights, squat racks, platforms, and conditioning equipment. The gym is clean, well maintained, and has plenty of space for both personal training and independent workouts. One thing I appreciate is the supportive training environment. Whether you’re a beginner looking to improve your health and fitness or an experienced lifter focused on strength and performance, the atmosphere is welcoming and motivating. The location in South Common is convenient, and the staff and trainers genuinely care about helping members succeed. If you’re looking for a gym in Edmonton that prioritizes strength training, athletic performance, and long term results, Evolve Strength South Common is definitely worth checking out.
Best gym I’ve used in 12 years - perfect for bodybuilding I’ve trained at a ton of gyms over the last 12 years, and I have to say this place is on another level. The equipment is seriously advanced. Huge floor space with tons of machines dialed in for bodybuilding and aesthetics. Way more free weights and benches than most spots, so zero waiting or fighting for equipment during my session. I train for aesthetics and my first day here got me fired up. Left feeling absolutely drained and satisfied after a solid session. Big plus: they have a sauna, which is rare in my area. Makes post-workout recovery way better. If you’re a bodybuilder or just serious about training, I highly recommend.
This is a true gym with amazing equipment. Love the variety of machines and the quantity of racks. My only true gripe with this gym that goodlife has over this location is that there’s no real place to warm up or to do rehabilitation. Usually I would go to the turf zone at goodlife South Park to warm up and it wouldn’t be absolutely packed in a packed gym like that, that’s because they have multiple areas in their gym where you can do your warm up routine. If you guys can add a TRX studio line storage rack that would probably fix most of my problems with this place. Image will be provided at the bottom. Would be better to have this rather than having 2 separate racks for kettlebells and dumbbells on the turf. I wish there was just more space tbh but idek how that’s possible at this gym with the congestion of equipment. Still on the fence whether I want to stay or not. A warm up really determines how good or bad your workout will go. This gym is still great tho. And still 100x better & practical than movati Update: Bumping it up to 5 stars just cause you guys genuinely have amazing service, actually care and listen to your members as you guys listen to feedback. The fact that you guys are always optimizing this gym on the daily is deeply appreciated. Alsoo cancelling my goodlife. This place is so worth it!
The newest (and best) Evolve is jam packed! Maybe a bit too jammed full of quality equipment in the early weeks but they’re sorting through to see what machines make the cut. So many unique and versatile leg machines you rarely see in gyms and plenty of barbell racks lined up in their own isle and good number of cable stations next to an impressive line of dumbbells that go over 100lbs joined with adjustable rubber-cushion benches. The Olympic lifting zone has the usual platforms and natural lighting from front windows as does the treadmills, stairs, bikes etc by the front lobby which leads you down a couple hallways of physio/health related businesses and even a barber before reaching the refreshing spa-like change rooms with large lockers, showers and beautifully lit sauna. I’m hoping the calisthenics bars rack/cage goes up soon with good variety of heights and rings (the back corner seems a likely spot for cali and related stretching/mobility eventually) but for now you have to occupy a rack or two for bar work or TRX etc. I notice they are also figuring out optimal spray bottle locations and the staff/managers are friendly and open to suggestions. Maybe we’ll see a set of massage chairs at the end of a hall or in one of the rooms for a relaxing reward? I enjoy coming here already and look forward to the refining touches in the coming months- keep it up!
Over the past 10 years I've spent thousands of hours in gyms across the city and province and this location is by far the best gym I've trained and coached in. From equipment quality and variety to environment and cleanliness, I have yet to find or see something that I don't rate very highly. The layout, the spacing, and the staff are all top tier. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is wanting to take that next step in their fitness journey and training.
