Brought my golden retriever here a couple of weeks ago hoping to find some trails around the area, and while the nature centre itself is a museum that doesn't allow dogs inside, the surrounding grounds were a nice spot for a quick walk. The staff member out front was super friendly and actually pointed us toward a nearby path along the creek that we would have missed otherwise. We ended up spending way more time outside than planned, and my dog was absolutely losing her mind over all the smells from the adjacent natural area. Really a gem tucked into the river valley, and I'll definitely be back to check out the indoor exhibits on my next visit without the pup.

Visited here with a friend and her toddler recently. He had a blast in the nature playroom which is a unique take on an indoor playground. He could have stayed all day and not been bored! The little gift shop is cute, and the staff are knowledgeable. There’s also a gallery as well as a rooftop garden! Plus it’s close to Fort Edmonton and the river. Makes for a nice day, summer or winter.

Nice little nature centre next to the Fort Edmonton Park. A lot of things for kids to see and learn. They also have live bees that kids can see and read about their story. There is a playground area with the nature theme built in for kids to play. A great place for a play date or birthday parties. They have multi-function rooms for rent as birthday party spaces. Lovely experience. Would recommend!

The John Janzen Nature Centre in Edmonton is an outstanding choice for a birthday bash! With interactive exhibits and trails, it's a venue that brings the joy of the great outdoors into a party setting. The kids had a blast exploring and learning, making the birthday celebration both fun-filled and educational. Highly recommend for a unique and memorable event!

I recently booked a birthday party for my 5 year old with the “Fairy tale & Folk lore” theme. We had an absolute blast! The staff were very seamless to communicate with, the space was spacious, clean & set up with different activities to keep the kids entertained. We had a generous amount of time between being outside & inside, and the play areas were fun for all. I highly recommend booking John Janzen for a birthday party. :)
