Before finding Black Tusk Athletics, I was struggling with the most basic daily tasks. Getting up off the floor was painful and nearly impossible. I couldn't do a sit-up. Stairs had to be taken one step at a time due to foot and knee pain, and cleaning my house had become so exhausting that I simply couldn't manage it anymore. I tried so hard on my own — online trainers, different workout programs — but nothing worked. I kept pulling muscles or ending up in more pain than before. I was exhausted and had started to accept that this was just going to be my life. Then my fiancé and I found Black Tusk Athletics, and everything changed. We started working with personal trainer Alara, she is truly exceptional!! I have osteoarthritis, which led to years of limited movement, weight gain, and growing weaker over time — which then made everything even harder. But Alara meets you exactly where you are. She modified exercises I didn't think could be modified any further, watches your movement carefully, and either corrects your form or works with the way your body moves so you're not in pain. Every time I hit a wall — whether from pain or lack of strength — she found a way to make it work. I started hitting goals. I started having wins every single day. The weight I'd been carrying began to drop, and I grew stronger than I'd been in years. I can now run up and down the stairs. I can get up off the floor without help. I can clean my house again. Most importantly — I have my life back. The entire gym community is warm, kind, and genuinely supportive. Everyone cheers you on. It truly feels like a big family, and my fiancé and I are so happy to be part of it. Thank you to Alara for giving me my life back. To owners Anne & Jason, the community you have built is inspiring, and to everyone at Black Tusk Athletics. You are truly amazing. 🖤

My workout this morning at Black Tusk Athletics was challenging and good. The routine pushed me with a mix of strength and cardio exercises that kept my heart rate up but never felt overwhelming. Laine is great - he takes the time to explain each movement clearly, breaking down the form so I understood exactly what to do. Throughout the workout, he gave feedback by watching my technique closely and helped me adjust when needed, making sure I was doing the exercises safely and effectively. He is also very encouraging and supportive, offering motivating words that kept me going even when the sets got tough. That combination of clear guidance and positive energy made the whole session rewarding and something I look forward to coming back for.
