Dac Biet (DB) Restaurant

Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was incredible — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions were very generous, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere was stunning: bright, clean, modern, and so welcoming. It felt upscale while still being comfortable and relaxed. I was also really impressed by the extensive menu selection, especially the many gluten-friendly and dairy-friendly options available. It’s not always easy to find a place that accommodates different dietary needs without sacrificing quality or variety, but they absolutely delivered. Kids had not problem finding things they loved on the menu. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!

I visited Edmonton Valley Zoo and happened to discover this newly opened restaurant not too far from there. What a lovely find! The space is bright, spacious, and very comfortable. I really appreciated how the tables are arranged smartly, with enough room to move chairs comfortably while still having privacy for conversation. The menu is also very thoughtful, with English, Vietnamese, and Chinese options, which is great for Asian clients and visitors. The food feels authentic, with a strong Huế-style Vietnamese flavour. Overall, the food was very good. I wouldn’t say “wow,” but definitely solid, tasty, and worth coming back for. I also really liked the ambience. Everything felt clean, fresh, and welcoming, even the washroom was very clean and smelled nice, which I truly appreciate. Overall, a very good experience. I would recommend this restaurant, especially if you are visiting the Edmonton Valley Zoo area and looking for a comfortable place to enjoy authentic Vietnamese food.

Had a great experience here! The service was excellent, everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The atmosphere is clean, relaxing, and very family friendly, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with loved ones. The restaurant is beautifully designed and has a warm, inviting feel. You can tell it's a family owned business that takes pride in both the food and customer experience. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be coming back!

As someone who comes from a Vietnamese family who is Huế and only has a handful of Vietnamese restaurants we return to in the city, we were very impressed by the food, service, and atmosphere of Đặc Biệt. The flavours here are truly authentic and balanced, everything was done exactly how it should be done, which is very important to my family. We dislike it when flavours are inauthentic (aka sweetened), but that wasn’t what we experienced here. We ordered Bánh Bột Lọc Trần, Bánh Ít Trần Tôm Thịt, Bún Bò Huế Giò Heo, Bánh Canh Đồ Biển, Bánh Canh Nam Phổ, Chè 3 Màu, and Cà Phê Chồn. Admittedly, we were so excited that for some of the food, we forgot to take pictures as we were already half way done eating by the time I remembered to take pictures😆 So some pictures may have less food than what was actually served. Also, the Chè 3 Màu is done right with coconut milk, not regular milk. That’s a key distinction for good chè 3 màu, and we have a connoisseur in our family that spoke highly of this dessert here compared to any other location in the city. My family and I really enjoyed our meal, and we plan to return here again to try more on the menu. Thank you for a great experience, we will be recommending your restaurant to others as among some of the best Vietnamese food in the city. This is a welcome addition to the Vietnamese food scene in West Edmonton. Bun Bo Hue was flavourful and portion size was pretty good. Just wish they add the pork blood with the pork feet to add to the authenticity because we need more of that in Edmonton. Banh Canh was rich and tapioca noodles were great. The deep fried banana with Ca Phe Sua Da special was a great pairing. Banana had plenty of sweetness from the condensed milk sauce Deep flavour for the Ca Phe Su Da. Would definitely get all these dishes again. Deep fried Calamari was also bombs. Bánh Ít Trần Tôm Thịt was mochi like if you're into the chewiness with some shrimp and pork in it. Don't know any restaurant in Edmonton that makes this dish. Gotta try this place out.
