This tiny & hidden Filipino gem is located in Edmonton’s Chinatown, and totally deserves more praise. When I say tiny, I truly mean it as there are literally about 4 tables in this knook restaurant. But it’s kind of nice because it makes for a super intimate and cozy experience. Especially because the service is superb! The chef is a kind and charismatic gentlemen, who is a WIZARD in the kitchen. He never fails to make good conversation, and often gives you a little taste tester or extra portion of your order! The server is also SO sweet, she is an excellent server and a great conversationist as well. Together they make for a memorable experience that will have you coming back. I have been privileged to have tried various things on their amazing menu, but on this occasion we order the Spicy & Original Boa Bae (Fried Chicken), Boa Boy (Pork Belly Braised in Soy), Tocino Bao (Cured Pork Loin), and the Garlic Fried Rice. I promise you every single boa was delicious! The fixings, sauces, and marinates all complement each other beautifully. The pork is so soft, tender, and rich in flavour. The fried chicken was delicious and crispy. The spicy one can be pretty hot so watch out! My favourite was the Tocino Bao! But y’all the GARLIC RICE? Immaculate, it’s so simple but so delicious. It’s also pan fried, so the crispy bits of rice are a great touch to the dish. I highly highly recommend you at least try this dish. I’ve also had their Carne Asada, and Carnita Tacos before, and they were very tasty. I really can’t rave about this place enough! Truly, I can’t name another restaurant that does Boa quite like they do, AND you are guaranteed to have a pleasant dining experience. Must stop in the downtown Edmonton area! 🇵🇭

Tried this with my gf the other day. Tasty but small portions. Bit on the expensive side for what you get. The fried chicken we got looked sad. Nothing compared to the big pieces we saw pictures of on Instagram. Regardless it was still tasty. Bao was good. Cool vibe good music. Would come back but only if I'm in the mood to break the bank for four small dishes.

My friends and I tried this restaurant shortly after it opened, and we were extremely impressed by the food! I finally had the chance to visit again a couple of weeks ago, and have to admit, we were a little disappointed. Service was great, but the food itself was lacking in flavour and seasoning. The garlic fried rice was my favourite dish when we came here the first time, and they've definitely changed the recipe. Even though the rice was fried well, it was very acidic. A bit heavy handed on the vinegar. Next we had the original fried chicken, though crispy and moist, was very bland. The coating needed a good hit of salt for sure. We also had the grilled liempo (pork belly). Unfortunately it was dry, and the sauce really overpowered the nice smokey flavour you expect from BBQ'd meats. Lastly we had the Bao Bae. Again, we felt that the chicken was really lacking in seasoning. Also, the red pepper mayo was placed only in the fold of the bao, so it ate very dry. Don't know what happened, but hopefully they turn it around. We really enjoyed our meal the first time, and would love to support them again!

Mediocre...came because of the hype and was severly dissapointed..was served RAW chicken and the staff didn't even flinch at the accusation...red and pink throught and bleeding on the plate. That ended the meal right away. Other items cooked through but lacked any real taste or flavour. Would not head back again, very dissapointed and especially at the attention from the staff to potentially dangerously cooked food. Space design is absolutley wonderful and really nice. Shame about the food...

You need to eat here. This was the coolest food place I have ever been to. This is Filipino food but with cool add ons and it’s so good. My personal favourite is the second picture of the Pork Bao (I think that’s what it’s called). I can’t wait to go again! Also the chef is really nice and so creative. I’m truly amazed!
